The Fremont Symphony Guild is a volunteer organization that supports and promotes the Fremont Symphony Orchestra. Guild activities include social events from luncheons to special concerts and intimate recitals; hosting post-concert receptions for donors and musicians; and assisting with such programs as the Children’s Concerts and the Young Artist Competition.
If you would like to help with the Symphony’s programs for young people, usher at a concert, participate in a social event, help with a mailing, or just learn more about Guild activities, please contact Guild President Merna Morse (510-656-8763 or mmherstory@comcast.net) or Membership Chair Lynne Siebert Klein (510-792-5477 or kleinbert@aol.com). Whether you decide to assist with a single event, lend your talents on a regular basis, or just participate in Guild activities, you will enjoy this friendly group of dedicated music lovers!

The Saint Michael Trio
Date: Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 3pm
The Saint Michael Trio, which has won accolades from the national press, is not your ordinary chamber group. For one thing, their repertoire spans the classics to contemporary, including the jazz greats and their own arrangements of popular and even rock tunes. For another, their hallmark is mixing all of it into a single concert.
But they’re also different because of the way they make their concerts interesting, funny and thoroughly accessible, engaging audiences in the music in a way few performers can. Their original approach is gaining new audiences who never before gave the slightest thought to classical music.
Stunning virtuosi, the three musicians also have thriving careers apart from their music. Violinist Daniel Cher is a medical doctor who designs and implements clinical trials for Bay Area medical device companies. Cellist Michel Flexer is a software engineer and serial entrepreneur, and pianist Russell Hancock is a member of the public policy faculty at Stanford and President and CEO of Joint Venture Silicon Valley.
Presented by the Fremont Symphony Guild, the recital is a benefit for the Fremont Symphony Orchestra. Tickets are $35 for adults, $10 for children and full-time students with ID. For more information, please call 510-793-6375 or email acdockter@sbcglobal.net.
Tim Zerlang
Date: Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 8pm
An accomplished pianist, organist and carilloneur, Timothy Zerlang will be familiar to old-timers in the Fremont Symphony family, as he served as the Symphony’s Executive Director from 1992 to 1998. During that time he also performed two outstanding benefit recitals for the Symphony.
Currently Director of Music and organist at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in San Francisco, Zerlang also teaches piano and carillon at Stanford and is the University’s carillonneur. He will perform on the antique Spanish organ at Old Mission San Jose and on their beautiful concert grand piano.
Presented by the Fremont Symphony Guild, the recital is a benefit for the Fremont Symphony Orchestra. Tickets are $35 for adults, $10 for children and full-time students with ID. For more information, please call 510-793-6375 or email acdockter@sbcglobal.net.
